Dr. TONY QUINN WE ARE STEMM FELLOWSHIP FUND
Dr. Quinn, a renowned immunologist in the Department of Biological Sciences, is known not only for his work in deciphering the interplay between diabetes and immunity, but also for his dedication to the recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority students (URM).
In 2015, he created We Are STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine), an initiative designed to bring high-profile URM scientists to UT as visible reminders of what is possible for our students of color. While battling pancreatic cancer, he co-developed UT’s strategic plan, co-directed the Multicultural Emerging Scholars Program’s Summer Bridge program and Living Learning Community, and led the Brothers on the Rise mentoring program.
In recognition of Dr. Quinn’s contributions during 16 years of service, The University of Toledo is proud to announce the creation of the Dr. Tony Quinn We Are STEMM Initiative. Components of this initiative include the We Are STEMM lecture series, fellowships for graduate and professional education, and mentoring programs.
The Dr. Tony Quinn We Are STEMM Fellowship Fund also has been created to ensure ongoing support of underrepresented students in STEMM disciplines – scholars so important to Dr. Quinn.
